More Than 600 Students from Capital Region High Schools to Compete

Albany, NY – It all comes down to this. Special Olympics New York Unified Basketball teams from throughout the Capital Region will compete in the Section 2 Championships this week at MVP Arena, today through Friday.

More than 600 students from 30 high schools will compete in semi-final and championship games in each division over the course of the week. Games will be played each day at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

“Special Olympics New York is honored to celebrate the achievements of our Section 2 athletes, unified partners and school districts at such an exclusive venue,” said Stacey Hengsterman, Special Olympics New York President & CEO. “While student leadership is the driving force of our movement, true inclusion is achieved when communities like those throughout the Capital Region make time to embrace and celebrate it together. Please come out and cheer on our incredible athlete and partners!”
