Overview
Individuals from diverse backgrounds come together to work towards one common goal: to promote Special Olympics New York’s mission of empowering children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through year-round Olympic-style athletic training and competition.
Our purpose is to allow Special Olympics New York athletes to showcase their talents and abilities, while improving self-esteem, developing social interactions and enhancing leadership skills on and off the playing field. We empower Special Olympics New York athletes and their greater communities through unity and inclusion. Embodying the competitive spirit of NYC, the Leadership Council helps bring those with intellectual disabilities onto the same playing field as everyone else.
