In the summer, fall and winter, qualifying Special Olympics athletes from throughout the state come together for Olympic-style competitions that recognize their effort and achievements.

In the summer, fall and winter, qualifying Special Olympics athletes from throughout the state come together for Olympic-style competitions that recognize their effort and achievements.

As the largest and most widely attended Special Olympics New York events each season, the State Games are an integral part of athletes’ training and goal-setting. For some athletes, they are stepping stones toward the USA Games and World Games, each held approximately every two years.

 

SPORTS SEASON At Home :
Although the statewide Games have been canceled due to COVID-19, the essence of competition lives on through our athletes and coaches with our Sports Season At Home, a Fitness Competition for Champions!

This event is a safe way to compete against your fellow athletes from across the state. You will train and compete At Home and come together virtually to celebrate your accomplishments.

 

 

Schedule:

  • May 18 – Season opens and At Home training begins
  • June 12 – Athlete registration and qualifying scores submitted
  • June 25 – Coaches submit Final Scores
  • July 1 – Divisions Posted (see Divisions provided at the links below)
  • July 6-8 – Final Results posted (here)
  • July 9 – Sports Season At Home Celebration (6:00pm)

This statewide program provides credible “At Home” style training and competition for registered athletes in 12 sport and fitness events. Athletes will be supported by a coach and training club and represent their region. Athletes will need valid medical and consent forms to participate.

  1. Pushup – Divisions: Standard / Modified / Wheelchair
  2. Standing Broad Jump – Divisions
  3. 25 Step – Divisions
  4. V Sit-up – Divisions
  5. 10 Step Shuttle Run – Divisions
  6. Vertical Leap – Divisions
  7. Ball Dribble or Wall Pass – Divisions: Ball Dribble / Wall Pass
  8. High Knee Step – Divisions
  9. Line jump side to side – Divisions
  10. Line jump front to back – Divisions
  11. Stair Step – Divisions
  12. Planking – Divisions

Train for Your Events: Athletes can train in all skills, achieving their personal best and will select up to 4 of their favorite events for competition. Coaches will submit registration with qualifying scores for divisioning and then final scores for competition. Athletes will earn recognition honors. Submit Your Results: As you’re training, keep track of your scores using the tracking sheet here. Once your training is complete you will submit your best event scores to your coach.
