Special Olympics New York Selected as 2025-26 Grantee of the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation
$150,000 in Funding to Support Fitness Training, Health Education, and Health Screenings
Albany, NY – Special Olympics New York is pleased to once again partner with the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation to provide important health support to thousands of athletes throughout New York State. The Health Foundation has committed a generous $150,000 in funding to support fitness training, health education, and health screenings.
“Athlete health is essential to ensuring credible and productive competitions,” said Special Olympics NY President & CEO Stacey Hengsterman. “On behalf of all our athletes, thank you to the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation for extending their support into the new year.”
“At a time when many families are being asked to do more with less, the Foundation remains focused on showing up in tangible ways for people across New York,” said Jennifer Balbach, Finance Committee Chair of the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation Board and Partner at Summer Street Capital Partners in Buffalo, N.Y. “These investments prioritize everyday stability—from access to nutritious food and safe housing to mental health care—and reflect our belief that long-term community wellbeing starts with practical, people-centered support.”
This grant represents the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation’s second consecutive year of support for Special Olympics NY, and a generous increase of $50,000.
