Special Olympics New York Sends Delegation of 15 to National Softball Competition
250 Athletes from 12 States Set to Compete
In two short days, softball players from New York State will take on the national competition at the Special Olympics North America (SONA) Softball Championship.
Held in Oklahoma City and Midwest City, Oklahoma and hosted in collaboration with Special Olympics Oklahoma, USA Softball, Midwest City Athletic Complex, The Coca-Cola Company, Champion Teamwear, and Southwest Dairy Farmer’s, this three-day event features 20 teams and more than 250 athletes and Unified partners from 12 Special Olympics Programs across the United States. Competition begins Thursday, September 18 and concludes Sunday, September 21.
“We know that Buffalo’s own ‘Hot Shots’ team is going to give it their best at nationals and make us all proud,” said Special Olympics New York President & CEO Stacey Hengsterman. “Please join us in cheering them from afar!”
New York’s representatives are 15 athletes and coaches from the Western Region’s Buffalo Hotshots.
