Tri-County Law Enforcement Torch Run to Benefit Special Olympics New York on Monday, May 19
Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge to Shine Red Monday Night
New Rochelle, NY – The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) will pass through Rockland, Westchester, and Putnam Counties Monday, May 19, as the Flame of Hope makes its way around the Tri-County area. On Monday night, the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge will be lit red in support of Special Olympics New York (photo attached).
LETR is a time-honored Special Olympics tradition of more than 30 years, led and orchestrated by the “Guardians of the Flame,” which include members of law enforcement personnel from agencies throughout New York. Together with local athletes and supporters, LETR representatives raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics New York.

- When: Monday, May 19 beginning at 8:30am and ending around 4:45pm
- Where: Starting at Yonkers PD 3rd Precinct (435 Riverdale Ave, Yonkers, NY 10705), ending at Riverfront Park in Peekskill
- Who: Numerous law enforcement agencies from Rockland, Westchester, and Putnam counties
On a local level, coordinated by the Westchester County Police, law enforcement in Westchester County have been running with the Torch to support Special Olympics New York since 1986. In 2022, the LETR expanded to include law enforcement officers from Rockland and Putnam Counties. United, police officers representing departments throughout the three counties will be running through various communities with the torch, flags, and great energy to bring greater awareness and support Special Olympics New York and its athletes.
Due to the size and scope of the Torch Run, traffic delays are to be expected.
