2020 Law Enforcement Torch Run

Making a Difference, One Athlete at a Time!

In a typical year at this time, thousands of officers in every region of New York would be kicking off Torch Run season, spreading awareness for Special Olympics New York by carrying the Flame of Hope from one community to the next running alongside local athletes and other supporters. Collectively, these officers represent our strongest fundraising partnership – the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR).

2020 has been anything but a typical year, but that is not going to stop LETR from getting the job done. This season, LETR has made a new pledge in order to raise the funds necessary to help our athletes get back to the sports training and competition they are missing. They have set an ambitious goal to raise money by buying and selling their signature 2020 LETR t-shirts for Special Olympics New York athletes who typically would have joined them on their Torch Runs.

That’s 1,000 t-shirts, which could raise more than $25,000 in addition to the awareness that results every time someone sees an officer or athlete wearing one, representing an historic partnership where law enforcement and Special Olympics stand as one.

“The Law Enforcement Torch Run remains committed to the athletes and will be back
in the fall stronger than ever.”
