Welcome Winter Season

The most important priority is the continued health and safety of all of our participants: athletes, Unified partners, coaches, volunteers, family members, caregivers and staff.  Special Olympics New York has established a Return to Activities plan developed in close partnership with Special Olympics International and in compliance with federal and state guidelines. We encourage you to review the Return to Activity Protocol plan and the High Risk Fact Sheet.

Our plan prioritizes the health and safety of our community while also ensuring an opportunity for every Special Olympics New York athlete to get back in the game for a Winter Sports Season, whether in-person or at home. Please view the resources below to help you better understand what to expect and provide you with additional information.

Are You Ready?

Let’s get back in the game with the Winter Sports Season, with mid-November marking the earliest possible time to bring athletes together in person. Whether you are able to participate in-person or at home, we have an activity just for you! Work with your coaches to determine the best options for you.  Once the season wraps up, we look forward to celebrating with all of you in March for our Virtual Celebration!

In-Person Sports

Beginning November 25th, Special Olympics New York will implement Phase 1 Return to Play Protocol, where eligible.

Remember, if you participate in the In-Person activities, you can also join in on the fun of the at Home activities as well.

At Home Activities

These fitness competitions have been designed to offer participants (athletes and Unified partners) the opportunity to challenge themselves through performance measures of various fitness exercises. The Fitness Heptathlon and Fitness Triple Combinations allow for participants and their coaches to train and compete virtually.
